Hi Guys,

My computer system I built in 2011/2012 is starting the fail, the CPU is deteriorating pretty quickly and i want to upgrade the CPU/MOBO/RAM in a bundle preferably, i play a lot of FPS Battlefield, Battlefront 2 as well as Planet Coaster and some MMO's so looking for an all round bundle. Any recommendations would be great as i don't want to spend loads of money on something that's not required.

Budget is around the £750.00 roughly but will pay more if the benefits are there. Ideally want to run all games in 1080p Ultra with the view to buying a 1440p ultra wide monitor in the future.

Current system is :-

CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz (Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology)
RAM - 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (10-10-10-28)
MOBO - ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8Z77-V LX2 (LGA1155)
GPU - GeForce GTX 1070
STORAGE - SAMSUNG SSD 850 500GB
OPTICAL DRIVE - TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224BB
PSU - CORSAIR GS600

I'm also changing the case to a Corsair 750D with the intention of adding a Corsair Water Pump CPU cooler in the future.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

I'm confused as to what's wrong with it. I can see maybe in something like Battlefield 1 online you might get a few dips at stock speeds - is the 3570K overclocked? Ideally it should be at 4.2-4.4Ghz.

Anyway, worst case, just drop a 3770K in there. The extra threads help massively with games like Battlefield/Battlefront, and it's still a solid CPU in general. Total cost about £100 and new breath of life. If you're willing to overclock it's even better.

To actually get a new setup that would trump an OC'd 3770K in games noticeably well, you'd really want to be looking at a new Coffee Lake 8600K build I think. Even then you're still talking about way north of 60fps for both CPU's so on a standard 60hz monitor not really any difference.

I've noticed when i'm playing BF2 for example the game starts noticeably stuttering and frame dropping so I've checked everything i can think of but when i'm running tasks manager it shows the CPU running at 100% so i assumed it was down to that.

Not sure about BF2 but I know Battlefield 1 alright would peg that 3570K at near max usage (though fps should still be pretty good).

If you haven't overclocked you really should as that's the point of the CPU/board. But if not, as I said a 3770K is a cheap way of solving your issue as it would perform a lot better in games that hammer multi-core CPUs.

Yeah, try Upscaling game to 1440p Res and then seeing how performance is ?
I'm guessing it should improve and then can lay down more cash on some serious 1440p gaming monitor
