Hi,

Thinking of changing the spec from AMD to Intel. £600 to spend on those 3 items what would you recommend.

Current spec:
AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz
8GB 2x4G CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 XMP
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-D3

Thanks

DO you have an aftermarket heatsink? what socket types does it fit?

What case do you have (to check cooler fits in case if you dont have a cooler) ?

Not worth going Skylake then? What you mean by collect £200 for passing GO?

Just a little joke for being awesome and going straight to the good stuff and passing Skylake.

Ultimately I guess it depends on what you use the PC for, if its gaming then an i5 6600K+Z170 skylake bundle will be fine, but then again perhaps you can keep the AMD and buy something else such as a better gfx card that will make a bigger improvement in frame rate/settings.

Ohh ok :D What you think about swapping the RAM for a 3000MHZ quad channel kit?

RAM speed has little effect, but look at Corsair/Kingston etc kits and see what looks like a good kit/price/speed.

P.S you will want new thermal paste to remount the cooler.

It looks very cleaver. I was reading some reviews between 6700k and 5800k and seems that there is not much difference between them, well at least I won't notice it.

The 5820K has six cores which if editing or anything that can use that many cores, will be quicker than the 6700K four cores.

Both have hyperthreading so double that again 12 vs 8 threads.

Missed part of your earlier question. I mainly use the PC for gaming (1080p for now) sometimes my mate asks me to render some architectonic stuff for him.
Main HDD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
GFX: GTX970
Also thinking about upgrading to 980ti and new monitor end of november.
