Hi

Im looking into getting a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade, last year i upgraded my GC and PSU:

Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I was thinking about getting this bundle:

Krypton Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-029-OB&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=

(not really bothered about the Mobo - any suggestions about the option?)

either way, would this combo be suitable, i believe my mobo used to bottleneck the system, hopefully this wont be the case this time around

thanks

This is what im using at the moment:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 LGA775 'Wolfdale' "Overclocking E0 Stepping" 3.33GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 (Socket 775) DDR2 Motherboard

Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF)

with vista 64

+ the psu and gc mentioned above

how far have you overclocked the E8600 ?

do you actally need a quad core processor ?, because if you dont i'd keep what you have and overclock it, with a decent cooler on it.

Ur current mobo and ram are excellent and there will be little difference in upgrading them. Ur CPU is certainly very decent but as it is dual core there are a few new games, such as BC2 which run better on quad cores.

I would suggest buying a second hand Q9550/Q9650 (approx £110/140) or if u cant find one of those (they are fairly scarce) pick up a decent clocking Q6600 G0 stepping (approx £80) in the members market. If u clock any of those to 3.4Ghz ish u should have no problem in current games and can use the £400 or so saved by not buying the bundle on a new gfx card and/or monitor which will actually give u a boost in games.

Thanks for the replys! i dont mind spending 200 odd on a new GC, any suggestions? also could someone recommend a good moniter i currently have a 22" widescreen which is acople of years old.

second question, with my current setup, it wont be bottlenecking my gc at all if that makes sense? im running vista 64 not sure if that has anything do with my impression that i need a system upgrade, thanks again
