CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade for £250 to £300? [UPDATE]

Hey guys,

So, in a bizarre RMA situation where the fan on my GTX 560 died, I've managed to get a nearly-free upgrade to a GTX 660 OC. I'm very happy with the upgrade, but it's becoming more and more apparent that my computer is getting increasingly CPU/RAM limited. Specs below.

So! Any suggestions for a nice little CPU/RAM/Mobo upgrade for less than £250 would be appreciated. I'm quite willing to go with AMD if it's more viable in that price-range, though I hear Intel have the edge at the moment.

Oh, and an aside, it'd be handy if the motherboard has an optical/SPDIF out on it!

Thank you all very much and merry holidays! :D

Specs:

Athlon II X4 630 @ 2.80GHz (sadly, the model that can't unlock more cores)
MSI N1996 Motherboard
4GB DDR2 RAM (I know, I know...)
Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 2GB
Be Quiet 530W Pure Power PSU

[EDIT: See latest reply; can handle budget of £300]

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the responses! I thought it was pretty amusing that the first spec recommendations you both posted were almost the same. :p

£300 may be really pushing for it me, so I might have to go with RJC's second recommendation with the i5 3330. Alternatively, depending on finances, I may put this off for another month and go the i5-3570k route then, or maybe compromise and get a 3470 sooner.

Thanks again!

If push comes to shove, I would recommend just waiting for 4 weeks and getting the best option you can. With the K model it will certainly last you longer, in terms of being able to oc it

Hey guys, really sorry to bump up this thread, but I thought it'd be better than starting a new one.

I've now got the money together to buy the better specs suggested by Doomedspeed and RJC.

Has anything major changed in the last month, or should I still go with those configurations?

Cheers!
