So, I haven't got a clue about current tech these days, so I thought it would be easier to ask.

Currently my specs are:

E2160 1.8Ghz OC'd to 2.8Ghz.
Asus P5K P35.
2GB PC6400.
GTX 260.

I bought the GTX260 just before Christmas 2009. I always felt that my CPU was a major bottleneck for it, since I've seen friends getting some ridiculous FPS with i7's. Besides, I haven't majorly upgraded in about 4 years, so I think it's time for one. Also, Bad Company 2 :<

Since I'm a bang4buck fanatic, try and keep the cost low as possible.

i7 is wasted on a gaming setup - you will get pretty much the same performance on a quad i5

you could save £20 on the ram if you get the ocz 1333 stuff instead currently on offer:

OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 Low-Voltage Dual Channel (OCZ3G1333LV4GK) £89.98

you cant get much cheaper than that without going amd or i3 (i'd rather have a quad for gaming these days) instead

edit cheaper phenom ii quad setup dont think this will be much slower in games than i5 - don't know much about amd setups.

Put in couple of bids on eBay for a Q6600 (G0 stepping) @ £75, and 4GB PC-8500 Kingston HyperX @ £60.

Trouble is, I don't think my AC7 will be good enough to tame the Q6600 at ~3.6Ghz. Any ideas on a better heatsink?

So, for £170.72, I managed to get:

-Q6600 (G0 Stepping). £82.77.
-4GB PC8500 Kingston HyperX. £65.00.
-Titan Fenrir. £22.95.

Thanks the help!

You did well, a low vid Q6600 went for £110 on members market. And i have that ram, its good stuff. Maybe £50+ for old kit sold as said.
