Hey,

So I recently upgraded my graphics card to a 7950 Twin Frozr when Overclockers had a few on refurb sale and I've had a great experience with it so far.

Upgrade itch has started again as my 4Ghz overclock on my 955BE has suddenly decided that it isn't stable anymore! So I've decided it's time for a refresh and I have about £200 to spend on a CPU/Mobo.

I tend to play Battlefield 4, Skyrim, Elder Scrolls Online and Dragon Age Inquisition quite heavily at the moment if that affects choice in any way?

Cheers.

Intel 2500k and a z68/z77 motherboard should see you at around £150 used and is still a perfectly capable combo.

Ive just sold a 3770k and board for £190. I upgraded from a 2500k but the only benefit the i7 had was when I went SLI...

Or do the 2nd hand route mentioned above.

Do you have an SSD? if so which one?

@NoNameNoNumber

I've had a look at the 2nd hand stuff that is about and some of it looks semi-decent and something to consider.

@stulid

The non-unlocked version of the i5 looks good, guessing that compared to my Phenom II anything would seem like an improvement.

As for the AMD build it is a good price, will guessing eight cores won't give any issues.

I do have an SSD, recently had a Sandisk Ultra II 120GB SSD fail on me and RMA'd it for a SanDisk X110 120GB so all good there.

The i5/Z97 is definitely out of my budget.

@deano-5

Random system freezes, rolled back the clock speed to 3.6Ghz and lowered the voltages and all seems to be okay.

Old chipsets, a nice range of boards avalible on Z68/77 and you get the option of using onboard graphics.

Thread revival!

Recently been doing a bit of work with a friend of family and have received a boost in funds for the upgrade. looking at around £300. What is considered the best mobo to go with a 4670k for a maximum of £110?
