CPU/Motherboard/Memory Upgrade

Hi

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU/Mobo/Memory as they are all getting on a bit now, and so I want to know which is the best way to go these days, Intel or AMD? I don't have a huge budget, something around £150-£200, is it even possible to upgrade for that amount these days?

My current spec:
Pentium Dual-Core E2180 @ 3GHz
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H Micro-ATX motherboard
2GB DDR2 Corsair XMS PC6400 memory
GTX260 216-core, 896MB

My PC is mainly used for gaming of course. I don't have a massive amount to spend, as I have said, but I can probably go a bit over £200 if I need to. Let me know what my options are at the moment.

Buy a Q6600 G0 (£80 ish)
Upgrade to 4GB DDR2 (£40-50)

And you're done, should keep you going for another couple of years at least.

(oh and overclock it ofc

Can you still buy Q6600's brand new or am I going to have to look for a second-hand one? Also, DDR2 memory seems very pricey these days.

2nd hand is the way to go, unless you want to stretch the budget to about £280 you won't be able to pick up a decent Quad core bundle.

So about £315 with free shipping if you get the very cheapest motherboard, but I wouldn't really suggest that.
