My i7 920 @4.0ghz and EX58 motherboard, while not slow by any means, it beginning to show its age a little.
I do a lot of live streaming, using xsplit, and the combination of emulators/games and xsplit all running at the same time is beginning to catch up with my i7, as I notice significant dropped frames when running the 2 alongside each other.
So I have the upgrade itch, and would like something that can fully cope with my demands.

I'm only looking for a CPU and motherboard, as my 6gig DDR3 and GTX460 cope fine with everything I throw at them at the moment.

Im looking for advice, as I've lost touch with the hardware scene in the past year or so, so I basically have no idea whats better than what, etc.

Budget wise, im looking at about £200, which includes money I would make from selling my current cpu/motherboard. I have MM access so I can keep an eye out of good deals from other members etc.

Cheers. :)

suggestions anyone?

If my budget is too low for any considerable upgrade, I may just buy a 1080p screen for my Dell XPS laptop

You may struggle with that budget. Id say a Sandybridge upgrade would be your best bet.

An i7 2600k/2700k would be more than adequate.
Paired with a cheap z68/z77 board and a decent cooler you can overclock it and you should have no worries.

From MM: i7: ~£170
Z68 ~ £60
