So I have just got a Gigabyte Z87N-WIFI mobo and Im trying to mount a Noctua NH-U9B on top. However the CPU socket screws extend through the mobo and are skewing the coolers back plate. Meaning the whole assemblage is slanted and failing to make complete contact with the CPU. Can the screws themselves even been removed or at least loosened to allow the cooler back plate to go flush the the mobo. And if so what is the name of the screwhead so I can by the correct tool !

And these are the screws...

Doesn't the backplate have cut outs to clear the screw heads? It will probably only fit correctly in one position.

Have you got a picture showing a face on view of the backplate?

Are you sure that you are mounting it correctly?

If so that is one shoddy piece of design work on someones behalf. Although I'm at a loss to give suggestions on how to fix it.
