Ok my parents got some insurance come through when a boiler burst and landed on the pc I built them. Problem is to get the insurance they had to get an independat computer technician to assess the damage and build them another pc with the money. Thats all wonderful and they ahd the new computer a while now, cept its got problems...
Ok the motherboard is a peice of ****, its a pc chips one worth about £20, now thats not so bad in itself cause its been working ok, but recently I noticed the 1800 amd cpu they have in is now working at 900mhz. CPU-Z says its at 900 and its an amd athlon mp thoroughbred, which if I remember doesnt go that slow. The question is what to do about it. I heard someone else a while back had the same problem and tried upping the FSB (its at 100 instead of 200) but with the result that the computer stopped working.
Any advice? Cost free...
