Just thought i would share-

Brother had a corsair cx600 pile of trash psu, he could'nt get past 4.4

changed psu to evga g2 750w - oc'ed to 4.9ghz on his 6600k @ 1.36v

got told by many here not to bother with the upgrade lol

Is a bit surprising. Sure no other settings changed? Replaced cooler? Was it failing stability tests before, or not POSTing, etc?

My mate bought my old components from me (CPU/mobo/ram/gpu) and he's running them on much worse power supply.
CPU requires much higher voltage to remain stable than when I was using it with my psu.
So yeah it does make a difference.

Maybe that's why I couldn't get past 5.5ghz on my FX 8320 on single stage phase. I was running a cx500m.

I don't think it have ever seen an oc difference going from my cx500m to my super flower leadex Psu's before. I wonder if in this case it was not able to jump from the lower power States to full speed that was the issue.

It could also be the 8 pin cpu power connector on the motherboard or psu that fit together better on the evga unit as well.
