I recently upgraded my RAM as I seen some nice GeIL White Dragon 3GHz for a good price.
I have a 5820k @ 4Ghz and it has been stable for 12 months.

With the new RAM my CPU is unstable and I can't get it to run at 4GHz, even with a big voltage increase.

Is this often the case when upgrading to much faster RAM? I've gone from 2400Mhz to 3000Mhz.

New Ram can make overclock unstable. you need to start from scratch.

Reset bios. fit ram and test the system as you would want any new part. when you happy the ram/system is stable, start the process of overclock, dont assume any setting from the last overclock will be the same in any way.

also on a side not, when i have my 5820k for a short time i font it not to like ram over 2666Mhz. and it did not like XMP.
