My current i5-2200K I know is old but has been perfect for me with any game I throw as it running will up until recently when The Division was causing me game slowdowns with CPU despikes (speed lowering) on the task manager monitor.

So I did some testing with Prime95 and OCCT and noticed the same CPU despikes on the monitor that starts to happen after a few minutes of it being at 100%.

I have not noticed it on other games or processes that has been CPU intestive recently.

are your temps ok? if not re-do the thermal paste on CPU.. it woulndt hurt to do anyway.. when was the last time you renewed the paste?

doublecheck for fluff and crap if your aircooling

Temps are good as always. Just done a complete PC clean out and not much if any dust/fluff around the socket. Paste was only put not to long ago but redone it anyway with bit or artic silver I had left.

Just tested CPU again and this is the usage after 3mins of Prime95.

More likely that its your motherboard/ BIOS or some software issue that's the cause. A failing CPU will generally cause random crashes/ fail to post etc not throttle as per your scenario. Something's causing the CPU to come off its boost speed have you checked your BIOS?

Did you sort this out, I'm having very similar issues with my 2500k and the division. Been silky smooth for 170 hours and suddenly I'm getting freezing and crashes :/ CPU useage drops off on the freezes :/

Will try cleaning it all out and new paste tonight, anything else to try ?

soo how are your temps ?

As I said in the other thread "Running around 70 on the CPU with a 4.3 overclock cooled with a noctua D14, gpu is about the same I think."

I'm really at a loss why its started, I've not installed anything at all and nothings changed as far as I know. I'm not really fussed about upgrading but I've spent a couple of nights messing with drivers and updates and I'm hacked off xD

Might try removing the OC and see what happens, also have read running 16gb ram can sort stuttering issues out in the division but that doesn't explain the crashes at deskop and game.

(Crash from desktop is black screen no response at all, have to power cycle. Crashes from game are frozen game no response, have to reboot)

I ran prime all day, then Memtest all night and now heavens running and no crashes.

Interesting, just the other night I started getting WHEA errors in the division (and only in the division). OC has been stable for months and doesn't happen in other programs. System hasn't crashed but I know it's happening as I have a popup enabled from the windows event logger. Only thing I've installed is the latest catalysts and that's when the errors started appearing.

Raised volts which reduced errors but I think I may drop my clocks back.

Cleaned out my case, fresh thermal paste and its running fine again. Strange though as my temps have not decreased, wonder if it was a bit of crud on the vram ?

All fixed for now :D
