CPU or Gfx for capturing video ingame?

I like to fraps some games, and this always cuts my framerate in two. The video is fine, shows full framerate. But while recording my ingame framerate is drastically reduced, making it harder to play.

What should I upgrade to make this less of an issue?

Currently:

C2D e4400 (overclocked)
4g quality rams
asus p5 deluxe awesome home supermobo thing
ati hd2900xt
win xp

Record the footage to a seperate HDD to where the game is installed if you can. Helps loads
