im currently running a q6600 at 3gig. im limited by the board to clock any higher. my monitor res is 1680x1050.

anyway would i be better off getting a i5/am3 bundle clocked to 3.8-4.0gz and use it with my gtx280 or pick up a 5870?
 
surely new monitor means getting a faster system to be able to run a game at acceptable fps. id rather have a overkill on a smaller screen tbh for better frames. providing it can run crysis maxed out with some aa at 40+fps id be happy.
