will not bore u with details but:

If there was a problem with the CPU would the MoBo still POST and then alert of a CPU issue or would it just power up but do nothing...

..this is a long time (problem) investigation of mine and i have narrowed it down to the MoBo, now am just curious of the CPU and double checking although i dout it is as it works fine when PC is up and running.

Ram and Graphics faults will generally trigger the post beep's to go off differently if you have a PC Speaker. a lot of boards will not post if the cmos clr jumper is in the clr position.

A faulty CPU or a faulty motherboard will often not even give a beep post code.

ok so again it would appear to be the motherboard...

the CMOS battery could be a good point, but yet i have taken the battery out not so long ago to clear the cmos if that was the issue.
It would appear not because after it finally does POST after several restarts it just runs straight through to windows.... all fans drop in speed as set in the bios.
so the battery must be ok.

So new MoBo i think after 18months of trail and error.

thanks
