my sisters pc stopped working, when i looked it wasnt beeping at startup. i was told it was motherboard that has gone.
but ive been out and bought a new motherboard and memory,
plugged all up with old cpu and it still doesnt start no beeps nothing,
is the cpu gone?
how do u tell if its blownup!!
please help as this is becoming expensive !!
went to local store and bought foxconn motherboard only to find i could have got it £30 cheaper online
not that i care really sister is paying for it !!!

yes mate, try and rule anything else out first, i highly doubt our cpu will be dead unless it been toasted, is there any burn marks on the cpu at all? if not then i'd try and get a working psu to try in your sisters pc or buy a new psu

got one now and jsut about to install it, no burn marks around cpu infact its pretty well cooled.

ok slight problem!!!!
the psu i had has different/smaller power block to fit to motherboard
GRRRRR
thoguht id take mine out then looking inside and realise i cant without removing to much

If your new PSU has a longer (24 pin) power block, it usually has 4 pins that you can snap off (they will normally be perforated or something). This will enable you to connect it to the motherboard without problems

im affraid the psu i thought i could use has the smaller block and i need 24 pin block,
i would use mine but that means taking lots apart,
how else would i tell if the cpu is gone?

well after al lthe messing around and buying new motherboard etc and taking apart my pc(although i did clean and redo it :))
it stil wont start up or nothing so im guessing its the processor.
its the only thing left that can be wrong
