few people been trying to find out what cpu pll voltage actually is and does, does anyone know ?

Intel kind of keep it a secret.

Asus dont say too much on it either.

Another place knew what it meant but apart from that didnt know what its actually doing and for etc.

lol.

what is the secret with this thing, its nutz man, lol ?:confused::confused:

CPU Phase Locked Loop (PLL)

This option can be used to stabilize the CPU at high BCLKs. Some people need to change this, and some don’t. You may need to start increasing this once you get to a BCLK of around 180 – 200.

The default PLL voltage is 1.8 V, and Intel’s absolute maximum for this is 1.98 V, but you shouldn’t need to get anywhere near that. Intel’s new i7, i5, and i3 CPUs don’t require much of an increase in PLL, so you can probably get by increasing it to at most 1.9 V

Yea and on the likes of an ivy bridge at 4.5-4.6 you would just leave it on auto. I.E 1.8-ish or whatever it is again, yea ??

Just extreme clocking you would need to increase it, that correct, yea ?;)

a lot of Ivy Bridge actually like around 1.5 - 1.7 on the PLL voltage for improved clocking. Especially memory clocking.

teah the max stated is 1.9 which could be dangerous and cause a lot of damage

so does the cpu pll voltage move if left on default auto setting of 1.8-ish, thats the way mines was and the way I have put it back to now after being told just to leave it on auto.

Just wondering if that perticular volatge will rise more with more stress if left on auto or if I should just set it to manually to say 1.8 just to lock it, my O.C wont be going beyond 4.5 or 4.6 anyway, I have had it at 4.7 though stable but temps going into the 90's, so I just kicked it back down a bit.

should I leave it on auto or lock it and maybe 1.8 ? ;)
