Hi,

I have an i53570k and a stable overclock running at 4.4ghz @ 1.25v. My m/b is a z77 Asus Sabertooth. I experimented with CPU pll and reduced it from the default 1.8 to 1.5v. I noticed that the temperature on load and idle reduced by 2-3 degrees (reported on hardware monitor) .

Shall I keep reducing it in increments of 0.1 until it causes crashes in prime? Is there a minimum value that I should not exceed?

Thanks.

Watching this with interest, let me know how it goes.

Sorry for the late reply. I forgot about this.

Basically with my CPU and M/B. I found that decreasing PLL did reduce temps by 2-3 degrees as previously mentioned, however one of the side effects I found was that my PC suffered what can be best described as a "cold boot bug."

When starting my PC for the first time it wouldn't automatically turn on my monitor and boot into Windows. After turning my machine on and off a couple of times it would then show the BIOS screen with "Press F1 Overclocking failed".

If I was to press "F1" and then simply exit, discarding any changes it would allow me to boot into Windows and play games, run applications with no crashes at all.

Turning my PC on hour or two after I had turned it off didn't have any cold boot syndrome.

For now I have reverted back to 1.8 PLL.
