CPU power connectors question

Hi everyone,

My mobo has 12 pins for CPU power (X570 Aurus ultra and 5900X).

I am currently using 2 cables from my Seasonic Focus PSU to the CPU. Each cable connector has 2 blocks of 4 pins. So cable 1 is using 2x4 and cable 2 is using 1x4.

Is this ok, or should I run 3 cables, using 4 pins per cable? I am not sure if my PSU actually has the available cables for this - need to check.

Hope this makes sense.

As I understand it, you can run a CPU with just 8 pins and the remaining 4 are just for extreme OC - which I don't do, so I suspect all is fine.

Thanks.

Two cables are fine. CPU cables are deliberately split into blocks of 4 for this reason (so you can use them as 2x4 or 1x4 as needed). Unless you're trying to run a high OC, then yes the extra 4-pin isn't necessary although it can sometimes help if you have an unstables system.
