cpu pricing

It's mad for sure. Back in January I paid £177 for a 3600. Now if you can get one they're between £182-£245

Second hand for these are similar also. Good to know that when the £1 seller fees are back I won't loose much for having the 3600 for almost a year.

Prices sure are a bit high.

I'm looking to move from my 4690K to something a bit more current and it's tough to buy at these prices. Back in 2015 the 4690K cost me about £145....I'd say in terms of family position it's comparable to the 3600 which retail at the £230ish mark at the moment so we're quite a hefty way over the comparable relative value of £175 (accounting for inflation)

I was going to grab a 2nd hand 3600 but these are going for £185-£200 at the moment which is crazy (but great if you've bought one in the last year like Smiffy and selling it on - freebie!).

I bought a 5900X a couple of weeks back for £560. I'm not that bothered, I can accept a £50 premium to not have to wait for ages.

Managed to grab a 5900X last week for £510. Stock is hard to find but there are some retailers charging nor.al prices. There was a 50 ish 5950Xs on sale over the weekend at £770 too.

To be fair to OC, I pre ordered the 5900x as soon as it became available and even though prices went up I was only charged the original price but the prices are creeping up as demand increases which is normal

**** me, just looked at used prices and i could pretty much sell my 3700x for what i paid for it just over a year ago even though the new price is similar and available. why are people over paying for second hand goods?? are they just accepting they will be out of stock without making any effort to check?

I'm watching the auction site and can see people paying £200 for a vanilla 3600....I can get a brand new 3600XT for just under £250...2nd hand is a bit made right now.

I've had my CPU for over 5 years...I can wait a little longer for an upgrade. :)

not long ago 3900x was £320. 3600 was £144 and 3700x was just a touch below £250

for 5900x prices range from £510 to £700 and guess which price has the CPU in stock :D
