CPU problem?

Hi folks

I just recently bought the Titan Sabre from OC.uk. It runs really smoothly and seems to be a really nice pc. However, I've been running AMD Overdrive so that I can see the temperatures inside my machine. I havent altered any settings or changed any BIOS. The pc is exactly as it was upon arrival.

My problem(?) is that the CPU temperature is shown to be 55-65c at idle, and after playing games for more than 5 mins, the temperature of the CPU rises to 80-95c. Now, I'm not particularly computer savvy, I dont know if that is normal, or safely within normal parameters, but my gut is telling me that those temps if accurate are too high.

If any of you could provide any advise as to how to make sure that those readings are correct, or how to make the cpu run a little more cooler, or even just let me know if those temps are ok, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Those temps are far too high.
A dualcore P2 with a Titan shouldn't get anywhere near those temps.
My advice would be to avoid any prolonged use of your PC until you find the cause of those high temps.

1: Check the cpu fan is actually spinning.
Also that it is actually attached to the heatsink and hasn't fallen off in transit.

2: Check the cpu heatsink, make sure it is mounted properly.
Are any of the thumbscrews loose?

Still running hot
3: Get in touch with OCUK

Thank you for the reply.

I have opened up the pc and have tried to see if the cooler moves at all, and it seems fairly secure, it wont budge at all in any direction, the screws i could reach are all as tight as they can go.

Also with the side panel removed and the power on, all the fans that I can see spin normally, the case fan, cooler fan, and 2 fans on the graphics card all look to work ok.

Yesterday when I had the computer turned on running an software install that required a fairly large online download, the CPU was active at about 60-70% for 2-3 hours and AMd overdrive showed the temps at 70-75c, but about half way through I got a system message saying the cpu fan had failed, and after that the display in AMD overdrive showed the cpu was running at 3120MHZ. I rebooted and it went back to its normal 3332mhz. but nothing changed in so far as temps improving.

Running the Aion online game, the cpu will start off at pretty much 100% while it loads up, which can take up to about 2 mins, during that time, the temperature of the cpu goes up to 85-90c, and then whilst the game is actually running, and the cpu load is high, but not maxxed, the temps will settle between 75-80c. With only AMD overdrive running, and just sitting on the desktop, the temps will settle around 46-55c.

Sorry for double posting..

I made a post in customer services forum yesterday and included some screenshots which I will post here, maybe it will help show the problem I am having.
