How the hell do these go back in? Been trying to do it without damaging the pins but the thing just doesn't sit right? Anybody shed some light? It's an ASus z77
you might be able to straighten them with watchmakers tweezers but only test with a cheapo cpu or sell it (stating the damage) if you don't fancy that. Someone will buy it and it would be a waste to bin it.
On the motherboard is where I've bent the pins trying to get the CPU cover back on. It just wouldn't go back on no matter what!! Doubt they will refund me now since I've broken the, trying waste of £180
Nope this one just clips over the bracket when it's down. For no reason I can think of I tried to put it in them pull the lever down. I'm having an off day. No way will they accept a return on it! Although when it came the bag wasn't sealed and it looked as thiugh it had some signs of use so I'll just try and say it was used might as well try for a waste of £180 I'm furious at myself right now
Not do I must have been half asleep for some dumb reason I tired to install it like a CPu. Can't believe it myself. All the systems ive installed and I do this. Oh well another is on route.
once, i was cleaning my lga 775 mobo with a sock. the threads got caught and bent all the pins BACKWARDS. i sat down at the kitchen table with a flat head screwdriver and i straightened the pins line by line. it was tedious and painful and all the while my heart was breaking cos it weren't that old. eventually i got them semi-straight and tried the cpu. she kept running til i upgraded 2 years later.
you have nothing to lose by trying. Just be patient.
I managed to get a refund - considering i made the damage i found this wonderful! Was a lot more precise with the replacment board! almost broke a sweat
