My new mobo has a four pin connect but my psu doesn't.

Does your psu have a 8 pin connector you can use that putting half in , what motherboard and psu do you have ?

Mobo is a MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi

PSU is a Corsair CS850M 850W Semi-Modular 80+ GOLD Certified from 2015.

Your motherboard has a 8 and 4 pin as long as you have the 8 pin connected your good to go as the extra 4 pin is for extreme overclocking
