CPU Q6600 Prices....Will they fall ??

Hi all, with the new penryn chips out soon will the cost of these chips drop ? Was hoping to pick one up if they do

As some of the e6x00 are more expensive than their faster and cheaper e6x50 brothers.

Even then I doubt they will drop, they will be phased out and the penryn will replace.

Yeah, E6600's are still £146 even though they are EOL.

They are already cheap for what they are. If you want one cheaper, it will have to be second hand.

I agree, 4 x 4Ghz for £155 is quite amazing.

Yeah, expect a rush of 2nd hand Q6600s when the cheaper Penryns come out.... Prob a worse case than we had of B3 steppings up for grabs when G0 came out.

Tell me about it....ahhhh the good old days when Intel had no competition, and they charged what they liked for chips...I remember paying £600 for a 486DX/66...ye gods!!

Last pricing I looked at they were the same price points as the current Quads (with a new model between the Q6600 & Q6700 price point).
