CPU question regarding laptop and sockets

I've got a fairly old Acer Aspire 1680 which I used for work (just general internet browsing and word docs).

It currently has a Intel Pentium M 715 which is socket 479 according to CPU-Z. Now looking on a well known auction site, you can get the Pentium M 730 fairly cheaply however it states it as being socket 478.

Would this still fit and more importantly work? I know its not going to improve things a LOT but for £10 it's worth having a try.

Its from the same family so should fit no problem have a look here for more info Linky

From what I know, although the sockets are physically similar they are not inter-compatible. Even though the CPU's are the same family, if the sockets are not the same it wont work.

Pentium M 730 is not 478 thats the old P4 socket. I've just had a look at one of each and they are exactly the same pin layout for socket 479.
