CPU question

I was going to get a i7-2700k processor , but from the sounds of things ivy bridge is coming out soon, is there likely to be a better processor for similar amounts when the ivy bridge comes out, or when new processors come out are they usually massively over priced ( never bought one close to launch before) and also when the ivy bridge comes out will the sand bridge ones be pretty
much obselete ?
Anyone got anywhere for a comparison at this early stage or is it just speculation still right now or are there facts about performance known, I'd like something about the same performance , I'd be willing to pay a bit more if it would future proof it somewhat

if they were "released" in march/april, would they come out here at the same time, or would it take longer for stock to arrive in the uk (ie america first) the overclocked 7970's are still hard to get hold of here a month after they came out (even the xfx black edition ones), god knows how long ill be waiting for an asus overclocked one or a gigabyte one with three fans!

anyway if its a case of waiting till march/early april id probably be up for it, longer than that i might have to go for the i7-2700k
