My flatmate is still rocking the 3930k
and is waiting another year to build a new pc.

In the meantime he’s thinking about buying a 4930k he’s seen one for £120 would it be worth him getting a 4960x for £220 instead?

Much performance gain over the 4930k?

Thanks :)

what wrong with his 3930k?

dose dose he need his system to do that its not?

4930k is 100%, 4960x again no
all 3 CPU's are the same architecture, all 3 are 6c/12t. there is about 5% bump in ipc speed over the 3 at stock clocks.

clock the snot out of the 3930k. i know many people still rocking them and they still game and so on VERY well

One of my friends has a 3930k and it still plays everything he throws at it (combined with a 1080ti). Should be able to get around 4.3GHz with minimal effort. There isn't anything on that socket/chipset I'd consider a worthwhile upgrade.
