CPU, RAM and Motherboard for £200?

Hi guys I am upgrading a friends PC for him and he has £200 to spend for a new CPU, RAM and a motherboard.

I am a bit rusty on the component side nowadays so I would appreciate any advice

Why would he even want to upgrade this to Q6600...

If you can get few more quid get Tuniq Tower now, if not , get it later

or at least AF7 Pro.

I will be using windows Xp pro with this setup. Will that make any difference?

Yea you wont be able to use all 4GB of ram depending on the rest of you system you will be able to use around 3-3.5GB of the 4GB

Go with Phoniex spec a lot better

In vista 64 it will regonise the 4GB a 32 bit wont

Assuming that you have 512mb GPU you will see 3.5gb out of 4gb if its 32bit xp.

Still a huge upgrade from 2 to 3.5 if you ask me, I did same upgrade and there is lotta difference.
