CPU/Ram bottleneck or GFX

Hi,

I have a friend who's computer is struggling to play latest games such as Need For Speed: Pro Street even at low setting on low res but some games such as Call of Duty 4 / Timeshift plays on medium > high on 1280x800 Res without any problem :confused:

The pc spec;

Amd 3500+
Corsair 1gb Ram (2x512)
Radeon 1950 Pro
Win Vista
200GB HDD

Will it make any difference changing the CPU to Dual Core and upping the Ram to 2gb PC6400 and using the same graphics card?

Most definitely the CPU and RAM will be holding it back, and ouch only 1Gb on Vista?! Poor GFX card, bet it's just dying to burst free from the rest of that system

More RAM deffo required, 2GB or more is pretty much a pre-requisite for modern games.

thanks for the feedback, so he defo needs CPU + RAM + mobo replacement.

Shame he bought Win Vista recently, he will need to buy new license again.

You can still find Socket 939 Dual-Core (a.k.a. X2) CPUs & DDR RAM if you search around the net
