My thoughts; for a gaming PC get a dual core 8400 but if doing CAD, audio / video editing, lots of multitasking the quad is fine. Id probably choose the Q6600 from a bang per buck perspective though.

Mobo is up to user preference and should be good, has 2 PCI-Express 2.0 (x16 each) slots which is preferred for crossfire.

Ram looks good.

The HD 4870 is a great card and easily the best buy in the high-end segment at moment.

HaPPY GaMING.

if it was me i'd go with x38 (if you plan to run crossfire) or p45/ddr2, for the price of that 2gb ddr3 you can have 4gb of ddr2.

i'd stick with xp/sp3.

no plants to do crossfire or overclock much tbh just want a fast stable system really for gaming also not planning doin another upgrade for a while so want a system thats gonna last for a bit also should i go for 4gb ram and vista?
or stick with xp pro sp3
