Hi,
Used to build a lot of OC machines but haven't spec'd a new build since the Ivy Bridge days. As such I'm looking at a new build to be used for gaming @60Hz on a 30 inch 2560x1600 monitor, along with running a lot of VM's/network simulation software so need virtualisation stuff. As such I'm thinking something along the lines of:-
High end CPU (thinking 9900k)
64GB RAM (looking at Vengeance 3600Mhz kit)
Maximus Hero XI mobo
Some kind of new cooler
Will add an RTX 2080ti/super at some point I imagine, although initially just need CPU/mobo/RAM build.
Whilst I'm open to Ryzen based boxes (although I'm unsure how well they do in virtualised environments) I've always pretty much been an Intel/Nvidia guy (very familiar with overclocking these platforms), so that might be the way I jump. Just wondering if anyone's got any recommendations with regards this kind of build, and on the cooler front whether an Asetek 360mm AIO is the best approach for CPU cooling? I don't have any great desire for RGB ******** - function over form is preferable, although PWM fans are important on whatever rad I get (unless there's some awesome new way of maximising cooling whilst minimising noise?)
Realise this is a lot in one message, but appreciate your responses. Many thanks in advance.
