req: cpu reccomendation :)

heya :)
i'm gonna sell my current system (sempron3100 @2.3ghz, 6800gt@ultra clocks) and i'm planning to upgrade so i can play most games at 1600x1200.. tho i'm torn at the moment between cpus..

looking to spend around £200, and i'm looking at the pentium 850d, a 3700+, or the cheapest dual opty.. any reccomendation?

i mostly play fps games like fear, but do a bit of x264 encoding and photoshop work :)

thanks for any help!

*edited for drunk typo ;p*

I would say an amd64 3700+ is a good buy atm, as someone posted a thread earlier that OcUK are doing OEM chips for £111... :)

I've mananged to overclock my 3700+ from 2.2ghz to 2.6ghz on stock volts and cooler, so am very happy... :D

3700+ is my current choice, my housemate has one oc'd to 2.77ghz with a 64freezer, but i was wondering if the 850d would be a bargain for my avi encoding..

only worry is, i like the nforce drivers (except for the nf3250GB - lan drivers suq), and i'm not too sure about moving to a different chipset/driver set
