Hi,

To cut a long story short i need to get s new cpu due ti my previous one failing.
It was a i7 2600k sandy bridge.

Whats the best cpu to get at the moment?
Is there something better on the horizon thats worth waiting for?

To be honest im looking to upgrade.
Maybe this?

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor £281.99

Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK Black Edition Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £169.99

Total : £461.58

Tbh, as a cheap interim upgrade a secondhand 3770k would tide you over until intels next releases, broadwell which will run on Z97. Followed shortly after by skylake which will use a new socket and ddr4. I've owned 3770k, 4770k and 4790k. There's not an awful lot of difference between them.

Im in no rush to be honest so im happy to wait.
Do you have a rough idea when skylake is being released?

just had a quick look on google and apparently skylake-k is due to be released late 2015 or maybe even early 2016.
Don't want to wait a year to be honest.

Don't really want to buy twice either so i think im going to get a Z97 and a i7 4790k

as setter says id pick up a i5 2500k/3570k or a i7 2600/2700/3770k till the newer stuff comes out .

its a 100 quid vs 400 for less than 10 percent in most things.

I would consider paying £100 for a cpu just to tie me over but im struggling to find a 1155 at that price.
I can find them for £200 but no less.
Any help much appreciated.
