my amd phenom x4 955 processor 3.2ghz is running at around 90% while playing battlefield 4 which is making the fan run at high speeds. is it dafe to be running at that speed? if so couldnt i just change the fan to keep the noise down?

Yes it is but as you found out they can get a bit noisy. What case are you using so we can spec a better / quiet cooler. Also it might be worth giving the heatsink a clean for the short term.

It is a highly CPU dependent game so yes that is fine, the fan can run at that speed it was designed for it, if you turn it down and your CPU overheats. It will wear the fan out quicker running at higher speed but they are cheap.

thanks for the replys. its quite a budget case but has a front, back and top case fan. ive only got a stock cpu fan though so tempted to change it.
