I managed to damage the CPU pins on a brand new Asus Rampage II Extreme motherboard and I haven't got the eyesight to be able to "bend" these very fragile slivers of gold plate back into the correct postition.
So question is: does anyone know of a place where they would carry out such a repair.
It is such a waste as this board costs £264.99 and hasn't even run yet. Ouuch :o

Sorry for slow response. I've been redecorating my study and PC has been down.
OCUk would not replace or give out RMA as apparently ASUS will not accept bent CPU pins, full stop.

I did bend them myself when taking out the protective cover which somehow bent a couple of pins. My last experience with this had been in a previous CPU where all the pins were oriented one way, and with that you could gently brush the pins back into place. With the 775 the orientation is two ways, so that brushing just bends more pins up.
I've spent a lot of time with a pin and magnifying glass trying to straighten them but a couple have lost the tips to them Duhhhhh.

At work we integrate thousands of 775 systems a year and have little or no socket damage.
I'm sure you do Nightmare but you guys are probably aware of the frailty of these things in the first place.

I have bought another one and I'm using that.
So now I've got a lovely box and accesories with a pretty Mobo that's useless. Ah well Live and learn.

I read in another forum topic by the Asus rep that Asus will repair socket damage but you will be charged for it.

Thanks Nelly I might try on the Asus forum and see if they can do anything.

Thanks everyone for the help.
