Hi fellas. I have a relatively old PC and downloaded the Indiana Jones 4 trailier in 480P the other day to watch. My PC wouldn't play it, just jumped through the scenes.

PC is an Athlon 3000+ with 9800Pro and 1GB of ram.

What kinda spec do you need to play even 480P? I'd have thought mine could at least play that. Cheers.

The graphics card makes a big difference. A card with hardware acceleration for common HD codecs will run video smoothly on a processor that would be otherwise unable to keep up. Case in point, I use an AMD X2 3800+ in my media machine that, if it were not for the motherboard's integrated 6150 graphics, would not be able to smoothly play H.264-encoded 1080p clips.

The 9800Pro was a good card in its day. Does it just not have the necessary HD hardware on it?

if the processor is an athlon xp, and does not have sse2, i would be wary of trying to get a hardware accelerated card, as it seems to be impossible to get a system without sse2 to get hardware accelerated video.
an athlon 64 works fine
