Hey peeps,

I've got two Dell Optiplex 755's, one built with a XP corporate image, and one with a Dell XP SP2 image ...

PC1 has a E2160 at 1.8ghz and pc2 has a E2180 at 2.0Ghz

Now if you look at this image, PC2 displays at 2.0Ghz and then 1.20Ghz which is weird, where as PC1 has 1.8ghz and also shows 1.79Ghz which is ok

Why does the E1280 display as 2ghz/1.2ghz and the E1260 show as 1.8ghz/1.8Ghz? whats happening to the 800mhz that seems to be missing?

P.S there are no options to change CPU speed or bus in the BIOS on Dells

Thanks very much, yes all the optiplex's have the speedstep option enabled in BIOS since i think the GX520 ... Disabled and back to 2ghz/2ghz

Thanks again ...

Why? Speedstep saves power, and has zero-minimal affect on performance. Takes a single clock cycle to restore full speed, and reduces temperatures when idle. As soon as any CPU power is required it jumps back to full speed.
