CPU speed slows down once unplugged and running only on battery.

Found this out once I replaced a once dead battery for years, the new one charges fine and laptop has no issue expect the obvious CPU speed drastically dropping.

Also an SSD has been installed on the laptop, that s the only thing that logically I can think of and could be impacting the battery power delivery, thus making the CPU run on lower speed in order to privde power to the SSD? just my theory.

Plugged on AC can reach 2,5GHz

Unplugged and on battery only drops to less than 0,8GHz

Any input on this to help fix this is appreciated.

You may be able to change settings in the BIOS that allows the CPU to pull a little more power. It will likely hammer the battery though. You may also be able to configure the power settings in Windows.

I checked the BIOS but I cant find any advanced settings, this is an older laptop model ASUS X555L

Already tested that, it doesn't fix it, as that is related to the minimal CPU usage and my issue is with the CPU's speed/frequency.

Kind of an addendum to this but some laptops and tablets will throttle the CPU speed to base clocks if they detect the battery health is below a certain point - which can be a pain to diagnose as it is implemented within the device firmware with no warnings and the battery health may or may not be readable with 3rd party applications like Hardware Info.
