Hi I know how to overclock, although I assume not mso well :D

But one thing I decided to ignore are steppings and weeks.
Can someone explain to me how these effect overclocking, how I can find out what mine is & and website about which steppings/week are good and which are bad?

I'm still on a barton 2500 LOL, I just checked my stepping (as hoping you could do it another way then take the hsf off but that was wishfull thinking), the code is:

AXDA2500DKV4D 1008777200022 AQYFA0341RPMW

Anyone have any idea whether this is a good'un?

I think it may be stepping AQYFA made in week 41 of 2003?

thats the last set of numbers. (someone correct me if im wrong)

The first set explain what core it is hence the 2500 in the grouping.

Not sure how it clocks though.

I could be wrong - but i don't think the steppings for Barton where quite as important as say the Opteron Steppings. Barton's in general were all pretty decent overclockers compared to other cpu's out at the time.

I suppose clock it and find out..?

Agent.

clock the barton? It pretty well known their decent clockers. Don't expect great leap and bounds like the opteron as it not even a comparison but it was ok at it time. Got mine a few 100 mhz faster than the default 1.83 odd IIRC.
