CPU stress test & fluctuating temperatures

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 6700K paired with a H100i v2 cooler.

The system seems perfectly stable, prime95, intel burn test, 3dmark etc all have no issues.

I do notice however when doing some stress testing I'll monitor my CPU usage during something like prime95 and I'll see the temp creeping up quite predictably and it'll then jump from something like 48oc to 54oc and then immediately back down again at peak.

Is this normal considering the technology, processor states, dynamic voltage control etc?

If I set coretemp to monitor more frequently it does seem more reasonable in a way a stress test will bring my cpu to a certain temperature and then fluctuate at that point by ~8 degrees.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's normal as mine does it too. It's never really bothered me, as long the temps are low that's all I'm concerned about :).

Mine does it worse that most, even when idle for some reason... One thing I will say it that the temps got significantly worse over time... To the point where I cut it open and replaced the thermal compound under the IHS. Time will tell but my idle temps have dropped back about 10c to where they were.
