CPU stuck in socket!

Hey guys,

I'm upgrading my system from a A64 to a 3800+ X2. I took the heatsink off with no problems, CPU didn't stick to it or anything.

But I can't get the cpu out of the socket!

The lever is up as far as it'll go (just less than perpendicular)

But the CPU just won't budge at all.

Help would be appreciated guys, since I'm going on holiday tomorrow, so it has to be finished and working by tonight :D

I'm on 939 by the way.

Thanks,

Turn the motherboard upside down (no don't do that).

It should lift out fine when the lever is in "unlock" but don't let it go flying.

Have you tried shouting and swearing at the CPU?

Yes, I have. Ive shouted various death threats too, and waved its replacement around in its face to humiliate it. :D

Anyway, its all good now. I gave the lever an extra push. It was a bit stuck before so I thought it was in the release position.

Made me smile:D

This is just a good, general technique isn't it?

PC crashing?
PC not fast enough?
PC boots slowler than it used to?
Can't extract various parts of the hardware from the case?

etc. etc.

Well, like I mentioned its working now. The 3200+ has been successfully been replaced with a 3800+ X2.

Anyone know what the idle/load temperatures are?

Idle for me is around 37, and load is 49ish (after playing the Crysis demo)
It seems a bit high with Arctic Silver 5 applied? Or am I just experiencing the break-in period?

Anyway, It seems to be working great. best £30 I ever spent :D

Don't worry about the temps, just keep it in for a week or so then see. You just put it in so its settling down.
