hi peeps just some questions, im buying an asus z87 pro v-edition motherboard (new) and need to know what cpus are supported from first bios on the website it quite confusing as follows

first release bios is 1007 but then there are a couple of cpu`s that are supported from bios 0801, now both bios versions are only compatible with like one or 2 cpu`s in the i3-i5 range, i need to know exactly what cpu i can get that i can use with new motherboard with it being brand new thanks

can i use usb flashback on my motherboard to flash latest bios before i purchase a cpu?

if the board supports usb flashback then yes you can update the bios with only a usb memory stick and no cpu

I think latest bios supports the newer devils canyon cpu's and the Pentium anniversary cpu

no problem thank you very much :) i will flash latest bios as my motherboard supports usb flashback and then decide what cpu to get thank you very much @wazza300 for quick reply

Fair enough. Usb flashback is brilliant, you don't even need a cpu in it!!

good to hear that because i dont know what bios version the board will come with and i want to be able to use whatever cpu i choose! :) ! z87 boards are still ok arent they? started some gaming a while ago and i listen to music and watch movies a lot.

tbh i really dont think i will be using the m.2 sata etc that usually come standard with z97, im happy enough if my pc just works lol probably wont need most of the features that come with high end boards

Z87 is still fine with chips upto the devils canyon range. Run a 4790k in a Z87 board here. For mine beta bios ver 1504 was the first one to support devils canyon and Pentium anniversary chips.

4790 k is out of price range at the moment, i will be going i3 or lower end i5 to get me started, im not really into overclocking, saying that never really tried it :(
