Just fired up the new rig..

i5 @ stock with a Corsair H50 cooler...

Straight into the bios and iits saying the CPU is at 88degrees!

This cant be normal surely? Ive tried the cooler with just the stock fan (intake) and 2 fans in PUSH/PULL.

The MX-3 Compound wasnt very supple and gooey as I'd imagined.. is that ok also?

It just sits at 88/89degrees...

Ok something cant be right...
Sitting at the bios screen above.. it just turns off.
Will let it cool down and reapply the MX-3. See if that sorts it out.

Anyone recommend a application method of the MX-3 with the H50?

Definitely try reapplying thermal paste, just a small rice grain sized blob on the middle of the cpu, the pressure of the cooler will be enough to spread it out.

my q6600 at 3ghz with corsair h50 idles at32c and at load 52c so there is something wrong! as other posts as said reseat the h50 and i find turning it left to right a small amount will spread the termal compound out better!

God im a tit :D I'd forgot to plug the Pump Power connector in after swapping the 2nd fan to an intake from an exhaust (Id initally set it up so both fans were blowing against each other)...:p:cool:

Sitting happily at 30degrees now :D

I wish.
I rma'ed one because its loudest part of my rig and they sent it back saying it was fine. Then two days later another appeared at the door. The 2nd one was louder, free but louder:p
Get a quieter case :p

My little P180 Mini muffles it quite nicely :)

If you have something made of plain sheet riddled with more holes than metal then you're really going to hear it if it's up on your desk next to you.

Ive got a Q6700 at 3.0ghz just running on Air... I would actually use that H50 to its full potential if i was you...

I have a p182 and its 3 feet from where i sit plus i hear it over 7 12xm fans:mad:
I'm actually contemplating blocking top exhaust the see if it helps.

Sorry OP for going off topic.
