CPU Temp Reported Wrong?

Hi guys. I just yesterday upgraded my e6300 CPU to an e6850.
The 6300 always seemed to run quite hot even at stock speeds, Idling at arounf 39c cooled with a Freezer 7 pro.
These temperatures were confimed by the BIOS, Coretemp, TAT, Speedfan, and Asus AI ***.

After fitting the 6850 and using the same cooler, the BIOS and AI *** reports idle temps to be 40c

BUT....

TAT, Coretemp, Speedfan all report the temps to be 18c - 22c depending on ambient room temperature.

I'm now confused. all monitors reported the 6300 the same, but now I have a discrepency I have no idea where it came from.

More to the point I have no idea which readings I can trust.

Motherboard - Asus P5Be Plus
CPU - e6850 @3.0GHz G0
Cooler - Freezer 7 Pro

Any light you guys can shed on the matter would be most helpfull.

I have an e6750 and I know that temp measurements need 15C adding to them as the BIOS (or something) under-reads them. Possibly the same?

I was told to use Coretemp and TAT.
To pay close attention to the T-Junction. If the T-Junction read 85c then TAT was accurate.
My T-Junction does indeed read 85c and the 2 apps and Speedfan give the same reading.

It's only Asus AI N.OS and the BIOS reading the temps high. Is this some kind of CPU specific thing? Because it never happened with the 6300.
