Hi, well got everything up and running, can now run stalker maxed out and minimize the game just like that which I am happy about, but my whole system is at stock and I am planning to overclock, I am using an OCZ Vindicator and my idle temperature when sitting in bios got to 40 degrees, now in windows its around 38, can go down to 36 sometimes, but are these temperatures normal for stock?

Also I sometimes get an error message saying that there is CPU fan fail or that the CPU fan is running too low, and I go into Bios, and on the Hardware Monitoring page I see CPU fan, but its going from 0 - 1049 all the time :s, do I need to update my bios or something?

Another guy I was just talking to has his E6600 at stock and he using using a AC Freezer 7 pro and his idles between 44-45.

Also when trying to change the CPU Multiplyer to 10, when I save the Bios it goes abck to 9 when I enter the bios again :s

How do I even overclock on this mobo? (Sorry, should have placed this thread in Overclocking and cooling)

Thanks
Willz.

First up, that idle temp is fine, certainly I wouldn't be worried. It's the load temps that matter anyway really, as no CPU ever overheated and died at idle assuming the cooler was fitted correctly!

What are the load temps?

Your CPU multiplier keeps going back to 9 because that is the max that an E6600 supports. I'm not familiar with your bios, but you will only ever be able to select 6 to 9 as a multiplier.

Re the fan problem, what fan is fitted to your cooler? Is it PWM compatible? It sounds like the motherboard might be trying to run the fan too slowly? Can you set it manually to a percentage speed or anything?

First of as Tooks said, your temps are fine. I have no idea about your fan issue however. With reference to overclocking with that board, when you go into the bios, go to the advanced tab. There should be a menu in there called 'jumperfree configuration,' select that and go to 'fsb and memory config'. in there you should be able to change the cpu fsb. Unfortunately the fsb displayed has been multiplied by 4 I think, so to get the true speed of the processor you need to divide this number by 4 and then multiply by 9. Stock fsb is 1066 I think. Hope this helps.

Hi, the fan on this OCZ Vindicator has no details on it at all unfortunatly :(

Cheers, got it to 3.2ghz now :), unstable after that though :(, running orthos atm and been doing fine for 1 hour 27 mins so far and I ams till doing all my stuff on this PC and this CPU is taking everything I throw at it, its awsome, best purchase I made in a long time :D, on another forum someone said to change my NB Voltage and the CPU should do better, I'm thinking of using this old 60MM fan to cool the NB abit better aswell.
