When I built this PC two years ago, my Barton CPU reached max temps of 50 degrees under extensive load. No worries there.
Nowadays this has jumped to 58 degrees. Which is slightly higher than I'd want, but I also believe this is well within safe temps. Am I right?
I just wondered whether the thermal compound (Arctic Ceramique) loses it's effectiveness over time? Should I re-seat the cpu, or is the theory that 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' a better approach?
I'm not used to taking PC's to bits and doing this sort of stuff, so that's why I haven't just done it anyway in case you're wondering.
