im confused speccy says my cpu temp is 35 but my bios says 50.
what is the most relible way of checking my cpu temp(software)?

Speccy?

The BIOS actually presents a load to the cpu and does not use idle states/power saving features etc. so the cpu is somewhat loaded and temps will climb. What cpu? Coretemp and Realtemp will work for most modern cpus. If its an older cpu then speedfan might be able to access sensors on the board.

In the BIOS your CPU isn't normally at idle so will give a higher reading. Any temperature monitoring software will do, I personally use Realtemp and have it displaying my temperatures in the system tray.

Speccy, by the way, is a bit of software from the people who make CCleaner. Tells you all your hardware details as well as some temperatures like CPU, GPU, hard drives, motherboard etc.
