CPU temperature?

I have a problem with my CPU temperature, it used to have 37-40 Degrees idle temperatures and 45 degrees temperatures when I was gaming or anything, like videos. Not it has a rough idle temp of 43 degrees and when gaming it can reach 60-70 degrees, it;s worrying as it's the first time it's happened.

My CPU is a Intel Core i5 3.4GHz Ivybridge.
Thanks for any help.

Firstly I would double check task manager to see if anything is hogging CPU usage and then I would check in the BIOs to see if any voltage/clock speed settings are changed from the defaults.

If that seems ok you could reseat the CPU cooler but you would need more thermal paste.

Thanks guys, I noticed it was after I bought and installed Skyrim, and ran it on Ultimate that suddenly it's getting really warm, I guess the game must have overheated it and messed up the thermal paste, I'll reapply some and reseat the cooler now! <3

The cpu is under more stress, hence why your load temperatures are much higher. 70C is nothing to worry about on ivy bridge, its when you start getting 90C that you need to change things.

My ivy 370k idles high now, its because I recently swapped my top fans to intake as apposed to exhaust.

The cpu temps are fine. The system I gather is stable and is not locking up? You have nothing to worry about. Too much thermal paste is just as bad as too little.
