hi guys,
i just replaced the cpu on my laptop went from a t2060 to a t7600.

i am just wondering temperature the cpu should run at? it currently is running at around 60-75 degrees celsius.

is this normal? does the thermal paste have any effect? i simply used the one that came with it.

I hope you added new thermal paste, as this aids in the heat transfer from the cpu to the heatsink.

Erm, 60/75ish is around normal. My work laptop runs an i5 and runs at 65C constantly.

yes did that. cleaned the old thermal paste and applied the new one. i was seeing around 40-55c with the old cpu hence just wondering.

ah right... but the new one is a core 2 duo, over the old pentium... they do tend to produce more heat anyways.

Try some new thermal paste, NOT TOO MUCH and reseat the heatsink.

Since were talking about CPU temperatures mind if i jump on the bandwagon, it's to do with a desktop with an AMD 8120 & the fact that the temperatures always seem to overload after a few months playing.

So anyway download Battlefield Hardline (Which i completly recommend) .. & it crashes on me after a few rounds, anyway i check the temps & see the CPU hitting 80c & realise why it's crashed.

Just checked with Battlefield 4 & the temps are about 70c, i know i should swap out the thermal paste again somewhen, but would a better cooler do as well, i thought about maybe getting a less intensive CPU maybe an AMD 6300, see if that helps.

But in short, why does my thermal paste only last a few months before it needs replacing i have good air flow as well in my case.

depends on the cooler. if you are on the stock cooler, the get rid of it, its useless. its like trying to fry an egg in the arctic using ice!

IF you have a good cooler as it is, then reapply the thermal paste, reseat the cooler properly and then try again

also any overclocks?

AND NO!!! NEVER DOWNGRADE!

I'm sorry it was a slight moment of humour at which was aimed at the putting the PC together .. i must have disturbed you from something very important please do go back to what ever it was you were doing

I care very little for Overclocking at this time .... if you can't tell
